Every Deco Haus gown begins with a vision.
Led by designer Jill Schliesmann, each piece starts with inspiration from the past: a photograph, a vintage textile, an estate collection... Jill studies these details closely, translating them into modern Art Deco gowns that feel timeless, cinematic, and distinctly Deco Haus.
Sketching
Her process begins with sketching. Each silhouette, motif, neckline, and beaded detail is drawn with intention. The goal is never to create a costume, but a hand-beaded gown that feels like an art piece. In doing so, she balances luxury vintage inspiration with modern wearability.

Materials and Pattern Making
Once the design is complete, Jill works closely with skilled beaders and artisans to bring the gown to life. The pattern is developed, the materials are selected, and the beadwork is carefully planned before being applied by hand. Every element is chosen with care to ensure that the gown catches movement and light.
Handcrafted Construction
After the materials are selected, our skilled pattern makers transform the original sketch into a full-size pattern. This pattern is then carefully transferred onto tracing paper, and then onto mesh stretched across a wooden frame.
Our expert beaders take over from here, applying intricate beadwork to the mesh, a process that typically takes 4-6 weeks to complete. Each dress is then cut, sewn, and finished by hand.
The Finished Product
Before a Deco Haus dress makes its way to you, it undergoes rigorous quality control checks. Each seam is inspected and every bead is double-checked to ensure it meets our standards. Only the best of our creations makes it through this final step before arriving at the studio.
Next time you slip on a Deco Haus dress, you can feel confident in the patience and intention that goes into each piece. Every gown is a labor of love, and each unique design carries Jill’s eye for history, detail, and Old Hollywood glamour.
At The Deco Haus, we strive to create wearable artwork to be cherished for generations.
