How To Capture 90's Fashion with a Deco Haus Slip Dress

What do we love to wear this Summer? Apart from denim shorts (and a fringed tank-top) a slip dress is one of our absolute favorites. Wait! Are we supposed to wear it only for slumber parties or night time? The answer is "Nah" to the "Ah" to the "No, No, No" (as sung by Meghan Trainor).  Slip dresses are not just lingerie (well, they used to be..) but have become a fashion trend amongst A-list Hollywood glamouristas for decades. From the 90's sweetheart to the punk rock chick, the slip dress has made repeated appearances down the runway. Rihanna, Alexa Chung, Kendall Jenner,  etc...these celebs have all appeared on the red carpet with a slip dress!

Fabric-wise, silk slip dresses feature a luxurious touch which makes us feel like Hollywood royalty. They are lightweight and comfortable and can be worn 24/7. Rayon (or viscose) slips are super easy to wash and also a little more durable than silk.

A slip dress is a must have piece for a Jazz Age wardrobe. However, Cher Horowitz from Clueless also proved that a 90's slip dress is a fashion inspiration!  How to get a 90's look with a slip dress? One of the essential items is the 'choker' necklace.

For a daytime 90's look, we are inspired by the one and only Kendall Jenner. Simply pair the slip dress with any types of choker and a bit of nude/natural makeup. We prefer our 1930's Bias Glamour Slip- Ivory because it is a neutral color that goes with everything and fits any occasion.

However, if you want to look fierce and fab like Rihanna (or have a fun and funky look like the hipsters at Shoreditch, London), we would say ' the more items, the better!' The key to success with this look is all about the accessories. A dress and one choker may not be enough. Spice up the look with an ostrich capelet or any other statement accessories such as a vibrant printed clutch and Jeffrey Campbell shoes.
